In both the open and closed configurations, the gate’s ability to be padlocked is ensured by its provision of a hinge post and a latch post. Both recessed and surface-mounted alternatives are available; however, for gates taller than 5 metres, we advise installing the fixture in concrete. While using a latch back post to lock gates in the open position is not required, we recommend doing so since it adds an extra layer of safety.

If you want to add an extra layer of protection to your gate, one of the most important things you should do is invest in an extra latch post. This will allow you to safely lock the gate in the open position, which will prevent the gate leaf or leaves from swinging back and colliding with passing vehicles or pedestrians.
